December 2016: DIY – Colorful Candles

By Marianne Wood

Materials:

  • a wick with a tab (you can buy these in a store)
  • wax flakes
  • old crayons
  • scented oil
  • small glass jar
  • double boiler

Directions:

Once you have your wick and tab, set them aside. In a double boiler, combine about four cups of wax flakes and small pieces of crayon. Heat your wax to 180 degrees in the double boiler, then let it cool down to 125 degrees. As the wax cools, add a few drops of scented oil. Pour one inch of wax into your jar and lower the tab and wick into it. Proceed to fill the candle as high as you want with your wax, and enjoy!
